John 8:1-11 | Sermon 1/7/24

Jan 7, 2024

There is no debate in this passage over what is sin, or necessarily who the sinners are. The debate is what Jesus has to say about it. His response is remarkable in that He is the only one present without sin and therefore the right to both judge and condemn.

The Bible says this about sin, condemnation and Jesus;

-There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

-But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

-Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death.

 -For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Let us receive Jesus’ forgiveness with gratitude and go and sin no more!
